When prominent business businessman Vijay Eswaran was introduced to multilevel marketing back in the 1980s, his passion for the concept was ignited. To this day, the Malaysian investor applies the system in his businesses, and he has gone on to build one of the most powerful business empires in Asia.

Eswaran was born in Penang on October 7, 1960. Throughout his childhood, the family moved from one part of the country to the next, owing to his father’s work with the Malaysian Ministry of Labor. In the early 1980s, Eswaran attended the London school of economics, graduating with a degree in socioeconomic studies in 1984. During his time in the United Kingdom, Eswaran became exposed to the concept of the binary system for the first time. He decided to enrol at CIMA, UK, for a professional course in the field. Later, he took an MBA at the Southern Illinois University, graduating in 1986. At the same time, he started part-time work in a multilevel marketing company called Synaptics.

When Eswaran returned to Malaysia, another company, the Cosway Group gave him a job to operate their Philippines-based business. It was at this time that Eswaran’s career in multilevel marketing really took off.

Later, in 1998, Vijay Eswaran would cofound a multilevel marketing company which expanded rapidly, later becoming the present day QI Group. QI is one of the largest e-commerce based conglomerates in Asia.

The company has interests in luxury products, media, travel, telecommunications and wellness industries, among others. The company has its headquarters in Hon Kong and has numerous subsidiaries in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and several other countries.

As a world respected speaker, Eswaran has made presentations at different economic forums including the World Economic Forum.

He is also an avid writer and has so far published several books including In the Thinking Zone and In the Sphere of Silence. Eswaran also runs philanthropic organizations including the RYTHM Foundation and Vijayaratnam Foundation.
